Getting to know your parents
Since the operation of a Waldorf school is very different from a traditional school, it is also very important that new families are given detailed information about what school maintenance means and what the school expects from them. Each Waldorf school is founded by a group of enthusiastic parents. We ask new families to take a similarly active role in shaping the life of the school.
It is important for the family to familiarise themselves with the school's pedagogical objectives and methods, and to clarify what kind of cooperation the school requires from the parents. If the parent accepts the school's educational principles and operating conditions, and if the College of Teachers has decided to admit the child, the so-called Cooperation Contract is signed.
In addition to state subsidies, the school's operating conditions are supported by parental subsidies. The school is run by the Association for Apáczai School. All families entering the school have to sign an agreement with the Association as the maintainer for the school year.
Getting to know your child
During a group get-to-know-you session, the children are treated to a story time, where they are observed by teachers and teachers in the company of children, playing together. This is a relaxed, fun-filled session lasting about 1 hour. During this time, the children take part in various playful activities, which show the admissions tutors where the child is in his or her physical, mental and intellectual development.
Meanwhile, some of the parents accompanying the child are chatting informally with their children about school life.
When recruiting, it is important for us to know whether the teacher will be able to work with the child and the child with the others. Based on the observations of the admission teachers, the Teachers' College decides whether to admit or reject the child. In the case of a positive decision, the teaching community takes full responsibility for the child's education and the prospective class teacher informs the parents of this.
Applying for a higher grade
Not only at the beginning of the school year, but also during the school year, we offer students the opportunity to apply on an ongoing basis. In order to facilitate the choice, parents have the opportunity to attend an open class with their child and then the child can be present in the class for a shorter period as a guest student.
This is the time to see whether the prospective student can integrate into the new class community and whether his or her learning abilities are appropriate for the grade level.
Our school can currently accommodate students up to Year 8.
